Jon,

Here is the current status of Garth Construction. There are 3 craftsmen who are interested in moving to Oak Hill to work for Garth Construction:

Woodrow Pine – L2 Carpenter
Ralph Johnson – L3 Glazier
Becky Strong – L2 Smith

There are 3 more that expressed interest in Gil’s offer roughly a month’s work at double wages. You need to provide escort between Plentitude and Oak Hill. There is word out at the Golden Phoenix Inn in Promisetown that Garth is looking for workers.

Cyrus McCormack – L3 Wagon Maker
Ignateous Jones – L4 Mason
Tom Sawyer – L3 Carpenter

There are also around 10 – 15 unskilled laborers available. Standard wages are 4 sp/day for skilled labor (L2 – 3 craftsmen) with higher level or rarer skills (alchemy, boilermakers) costing more. Unskilled labor is 2 sp/day. In the interest of reasonable bookkeeping, all payments for wages will be done yearly on January 1.

The Brotherhood has the following projects at some stage of planning. 1 and 2 are offers you have now. 3 – 6 are in the future. Several of these require skill/crafting levels you do not have at this time. Contracts with the Brotherhood will be negotiated on a cost plus basis. Pick a project and we can talk. There may be work available from private individuals or in other territories like Camelot.
  • 1)They will offer you a 1 year contract to work on the walls of Oak Hill. Gnarkey will be finishing the church, armory, bridge fort and other work for them while Garth Construction works on the walls.
  • 2)Work on a portage road around the cataract at Plentitude. You are uncertain about the time required, but in the 6 – 10 month range.
  • 3)Bridge across the Grande at Promisetown. This is a major project
  • 4)Fortifications at Prosper. Maybe also a satalite fortress in or near the mountains or possibly along the Amur river between Promisetown, Prosper and New Frontier. There is concerns with moves by Maloch (Vecna’s country) out of the mountains to the south.
  • 5)Fort in the High Pass to the east of Oak Hill. Eventually a road from Oak Hill to and possibly beyond the pass.
  • 6)There are very tentative plans for a major expansion of the Catheral church in Promisetown.

Garth Construction Costs
1. Barge (from my email of 1/29): 5,000 sp, The boatbuilder in Oak Hill is busy so it will be
spring before he can do the work. You can make it yourself for 1,500 if you provide wood
and labor: Garth (shipwright) and 6 of your workers 4 weeks.
30 ft by 80 ft.  There is no cabin.  It has a mast with a sail and it can be towed from
shore, rowed or poled.  Basic speed would be 2 mph (similar situation with upstream and
downstream movement as the keel boat.  There are 4 ft high sides with a gate at the
front to load/unload.  I would allow you to load 20 tons of cargo.  That would make it very
sluggish and difficult to move upstream.
2. Wagons: 200 sp for very heavy wagon, Cyrus can make in 2 weeks, you need
something to pull it, you may want to purchase horses/mules/oxen in Promistown.
3. Crane: plans cost 800 sp. Costs 1,000 sp to build. Need to bring iron from
Promisetown. Maxi needs to help build. Maxi, smith and 3 men take 4 weeks

4. Water Wheel: plans cost 500 sp. Cost’s 1,500 sp to build, Maxi to supervise half time -
2 weeks, (carpenter, smith and 4 workers takes 4 weeks) equipment that it powers is
additional,
a. Sawmill: 600 sp, crew above (without Maxi) 2 weeks
b. Stonecutter 1,000 sp crew above (without Maxi) 3 weeks
I believe you already paid for the plans, but thought I should include them in the costs
notes. Costs for crane, water wheel, sawmill and Stonecutter are half because you are
providing the labor. If you want to hire labor, cost is double
